Those are famous lines from the movie, Taken. Liam Neeson rocks in the role of Bryan Mills, a former government agent, and a dad to a young girl who was taken as part of a sex trafficking ring.
Basically, Bryan Mills kills and destroys every THING and every ONE who stands in the way of him finding his daughter.
Don’t mess with a parent trying to save their kid! Especially not Liam Neeson, because he is fierce!
But we all have a fierce Father, too.
One who loves us with, as Brennan Manning would say, a FURIOUS LOVE. I am totally enamored with this description of God’s love for us!
Yes, He is gentle, kind, and quiet in some ways.
But He loves us FURIOUSLY, too.
The word ” furious” means violent. But it also means intense, severe, forceful, turbulent, and SAVAGE!!
These are not passive words.
They are AGGRESSIVE!!
And that’s just the kind of Father we have!
None of the waves of a mighty ocean can keep us from Him, because He CREATED those waves!
Can keep us from this furious Father, who is moving heaven and earth, as we speak(!), to find us and bring us back to His savagely safe arms!
What a thought!
The other day, we had to talk to our kids about kidnappers, and about the importance of staying with Mom and Dad when we are in public places. As I expected,my daughter was a little freaked out.
I tried to explain to her that we would do whatever it took to find her if anything ever happened. As I was talking, I felt this “surge” inside of me…
Like unexpected power.
I was getting furious at the idea that someone would take one of my babies from me, and I KNEW I would do ANYTHING to rescue them.
How much more so would our heavenly Father storm the universe to rescue each one of us and bring us to Him!

And who would dare tangle with God by messing with one of God’s chosen? Who would dare even to point a finger? The One who died for us—who was raised to life for us!—is in the presence of God at this very moment sticking up for us. Do you think anyone is going to be able to drive a wedge between us and Christ’s love for us? There is no way! Not trouble, not hard times, not hatred, not hunger, not homelessness, not bullying threats, not backstabbing, not even the worst sins listed in Scripture

What a FATHER!
Do you get how much you are so fiercely loved by Him???
He is lamb-loving…
ALL in one!
May we all get swept up,
And “taken”, today…
By His furious love.
